To quote myself, “Solidarity is not a zero sum game.”
This post is a defacto part 3 following Part 1 and Part 2 of I Want an Apology.
Throughout writing these posts and coming back online in December after two and a half years I have tried to show solidarity with the poet and his friends because they like me can become targets of different forces that would disrupt them. And they like me have also built platforms or careers that support creatives or campaigners. I am not friends with his friends. I was. But not now.
For me, even when I don’t like you, even when you have wronged me, especially then, I will show you solidarity. It has become a habit as Hobsbawm hoped. They have not shown me any such grace, but no matter.
That doesn’t mean I am not going to snap necks on main when I have to.
These are grown men, after all.
